Middle School Career Exploration

It’s never too early to begin thinking about post-secondary plans. I Know I Can and a team of dedicated AmeriCorps College Guides offer a variety of resources to help middle school students understand their future options.

Through a series of classroom presentations and hands-on exercises, middle schoolers can begin learning about their passions and strengths and the careers that may appeal to them in the future.

Field Trips: Middle schoolers visit places like COSI and other hands-on learning centers to explore a variety of career paths. These experiences help them see what different jobs are really like and learn about the education and training needed to get there.

Classroom Presentations: Our students learn about different careers through interactive presentations led by AmeriCorps College and Career Guides, guest speakers, and industry professionals. These sessions introduce students to a variety of career paths, the skills needed for different jobs, and the steps they can take to prepare for their future.

VR Headsets: Through virtual reality, students can explore careers in a whole new way. From putting out fires to performing a medical procedure, VR simulations provide an interactive and engaging look at different professions.
